Sitio Kalakwasan, Barangay Tanabag

Puerto Princesa Batak Settlement
SUMMARY

The Batak at the Sitio Tanabag, Barangay Kalakwasan settlement are perhaps the most technologically-updated of all the Batak settlements. Shell has provided one-kilowatt micro-hydro power plant and one kilowatt micro-solar power, so the community can now enjoy lamp-lit evenings and charge their mobile phones.

To get there, drop by the Kalakwasan Barangay Hall before and after the trip to log your names and contact details in their Visitor Log Book–for safety. Bring plenty of fish and canned goods to sustain you, and be sure to eat a healthy breakfast prior. The hike involves passing strong-current river crossings, so make sure to bring extra clothes, wear hiking sandals instead of shoes, and to waterproof your bag.
